Thamesmere Leisure Centre
Thamesmere Leisure Centre is located in the heart of Thamesmead. It is a family-friendly Centre that provides a plethora of activities for adults and children.
The Centre has fantastic facilities, including a gym, studio fitness classes, a 25m swimming pool and a shallow teaching pool for babies and younger children. Free parking and excellent transport links to Woolwich Arsenal, Abbey Wood and Plumstead stations as well as it being within driving distance of Erith, Bexleyheath and Croydon make it easily accessible to the public.
Book lovers and students will appreciate the variety of books, access to computers, free internet and the quiet atmosphere of the library. Thamesmere Leisure Centre’s Library also offers free courses for adults and children, as well as Summer Reading Challenges to encourage primary and secondary school children to read for pleasure.
Tump 53 is a highly-valued community space that connects children, young people and the wider community with nature and the environment.
The Tump is situated in the Moorings Neighbourhood of Thamesmead and is run by Peabody. It has a great education programme linking school learning with the natural world. Sessions are linked to the National Curriculum and delivered by experienced outdoor and environmental educators. They teach about habitats and living things and engage children in mini-beast hunts and pond dipping, Stone Age experiences, team building and problem-solving, map-making and orienteering.
