Autumn 1

Welcome to our class blog page. Please check back regularly to share our exciting learning journey at school.

In Perseverance Class, we have had an exciting few weeks of writing. Inspired by our reading of Coraline by Neil Gaiman, we have been analysing stories with alternative worlds including Narnia and Alice in Wonderland. We then used these classic texts to brainstorm our own parallel worlds, villains and heroes. We are currently having lots of fun drafting and editing our narratives with alternative worlds.

In Maths, we have been revisiting our mental math strategies such as using number bonds and times tables to solve more complication problems. We have worked on consolidating our understanding of place value and . We also had a great lesson applying addition and subtraction written methods whilst planning a holiday and ordering at a restaurant during our Broad Maths lesson.

In RE, we started our journey in finding out who Jesus was through key symbols and the “I am..” statements made in the Bible.

For Science, we have developed our knowledge of the different states of matter (solids, gases and liquid) through a series of experiments which in turn strengthened our scientific enquiry skills.

In Topic, we have focused on our local area particularly Greenwich and the important history behind Shooter’s Hill and how these changes have now affected us. For Art, we have practised using a variety of outlining and shading techniques in order to produce realistic observational drawings. This in turn will help us during our scientific experiments where we will need to use observational drawing skills to record our results.
