Collective Worship

At our school, Collective Worship is the heartbeat of our day, centred on our Core Christian Values of Trust, Forgiveness, and Compassion. However, our exploration of faith extends far beyond these three. We follow a comprehensive termly cycle that introduces students to a wide range of additional values, ensuring they develop a holistic understanding of Christian character and how to live well in community (Oikoumene).

Our Weekly Worship Cycle

Each value—whether a core or seasonal focus—is explored through a consistent weekly structure:

  • Monday: Introduction to the Value of the Week, establishing the termly theme through Scripture and storytelling.
  • Tuesday: Thanksgiving Assembly, where the value is celebrated through the joy of singing and corporate worship.
  • Thursday: Subject Worship, led by Subject Leaders to demonstrate how Christian values like Wisdom, Justice, or Creativity intersect with academic learning.
  • Friday: Celebration Assembly, recognising pupils who have lived out our values, such as those showing perseverance in class or generosity in the playground.

Extended Values and Themes

While Trust, Forgiveness, and Compassion are our foundation, we also dedicate specific terms to values such as:

  • Perseverance and Courage: Encouraging resilience, inspired by stories like Daniel in the lions' den.
  • Generosity and Service: Highlighting our responsibility to others, often linked to our support for the Greenwich Foodbank and global charities.
  • Justice and Truthfulness: Exploring how to be "true to ourselves" and stand up for what is right in the wider world.
  • Humility and Respect: Valuing the uniqueness of every individual and celebrating diversity within our "one family."

Inclusive and Inspirational Worship

Worship includes everyone from Reception to Year 6, with tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs. Our sessions are frequently enriched by inspirational visitors, who model these values in various walks of life.

Through the use of liturgical traditions—such as seasonal colours and varied Bible translations—pupils gain a deep understanding of the Trinitarian nature of God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and the importance of personal reflection.
