Nursery

We are proud to offer a warm, nurturing and inspiring Nursery provision here at Bishop John Robinson CofE Primary School. We welcome children from the term after their third birthday and are pleased to provide 30-hour nursery places, giving families flexible access to high-quality early education.

Our Nursery is a happy and engaging environment where curiosity is encouraged, friendships grow, and our youngest learners begin their exciting journey into school life.

All children are entitled to 15 hours of free Nursery education each week from the term after they turn three. Families may also choose to purchase an additional 15 hours of childcare at a cost of £91.00 per week.

Our Curriculum

At BJR, we value every child as a unique individual, created and loved by God. We aim to equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need for success in Key Stage One and beyond. Within the Early Years Foundation Stage, we strive to build strong foundations rooted not only in academic achievement but also in moral and spiritual growth, enabling our children to become confident, curious and happy life-long learners.

Our curriculum provides the cultural capital we know our pupils need in order to thrive. This is achieved by nurturing the right habits for learning through the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning: Play and Exploration, Active Learning, and Creativity and Critical Thinking.

At the heart of the Early Years Foundation Stage is the teaching of early reading, which includes a systematic approach to the teaching and learning of phonics. This is embedded in our curriculum to foster a life-long love of reading. Our enabling environment and warm, skilful adult interactions support the children as they link learning to their play and exploration. This is delivered through a holistic curriculum which maximises opportunities for meaningful cross-curricular links and learning experiences, as well as promoting the unique child by offering extended periods of play and sustained thinking following children’s interests and ideas. We value imagination and creativity and seek to create a sense of enjoyment and fascination in learning through a vibrant continuous indoor and outdoor provision, alongside trips, visits and regular forest school sessions.
