This term, Perseverance class will be learning all about…

 

Spring Term – People and Places

Class Assembly:

English:- We will be looking at writing a story from a different culture using the text called Toro! Toro! (Spanish). We will also be using stories set in Europe and with humour: Mr Stink & Billionaire boy to write informal letters. In addition, we will be researching and writing a biography of a famous Brazilian’s life and creating a descriptive writing about Carnivals.   

-use of the comma to separate phrases/clauses, after fronted adverbials.

Maths:We will continue to consolidate on the understanding of the use of the four operations in number work and Place Value. We will be working on our Multiplication, division, fraction and decimals. It is very important that the children know their times tables and are able to recall their number facts quite rapidly. We would therefore continue with our times table speed test this term and would also be carrying out a weekly mental test. Please do ensure they practise their times tables at home.

Science:Children will be identifying the part played by evaporation and condensation in the water cycle and associating the rate of evaporation with temperature. They will also construct a simple series electrical circuit which we will use as a part of a carnival outfit or design.

Religious Education: Understand the importance of symbols, beliefs and teaching in Hinduism. We will also consider the connection between fame and faith, as well as the importance of Holy communion.

Physical Education:

Children will need to bring PE kit on Fridays

Modern Foreign Language: We will be describing people, places, things and actions orally and in writing using the Spanish language.

Art and Design: We will improve mastery of techniques such as drawing, painting and sculpture with varying materials (e.g. pencil, charcoal, paint, clay), while working on art pieces inspired by Spanish artist-Pablo Picasso and Brazilian Artist- Romero Britto.

Computing:We will be using technology safely, respectfully and responsibly; recognising acceptable/unacceptable behaviour; identifying a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact.

PATHS: We will look at Peer Relationship and the power of self esteem

Music: Appreciate and understand a wide range of high-quality live and recorded music drawn from European and American origins

Homework:

Will be given out on Friday and will be collected on Wednesday.

Reading records and reading books should also be brought in every Friday.
