Green Team

We are really excited to launch our Green Team in school to help increase our awareness of environmental issues, as well as help us to become a more environmentally-friendly school.

The children in Year 5 organise the collection and emptying of the school recycling bins. We are using the Morrisons Let's Grow Vouchers to purchase a composting bin so that we will be able to recycle the food waste from our packed lunches.

In December 2021, we had solar panels installed in school. These are helping to reduce our carbon footprint and improve our environment. In December alone, we produced 127 kWh. Throughout 2022, we produced 13.2 MWh - that's a saving of 2,650.7kg of Carbon Dioxide emissions - equivalent to planting 160 trees!

In March, Year 5 took part in a 'Moments Not to be Wasted' workshop. The children learnt about how to not waste food and even invented their own piece of technology that would support them to not waste food.

Throughout 2023, we produced 12.4 MWh. Since our solar panels were installed we've produced 27.2 MWh. That's a saving of 5,268kg of Carbon Dioxide emissions - equivalent to planting 319 trees.
